Finished

Finished The Other Boleyn Girl. I wanted to see how it ended, well I knew Anne looses her head but I wanted to see how the author chose to present it. I really liked it and would recommend it to anyone. It has a little something for everyone. Historical fiction, romance, scandal. Everything you need to have a real page turner. And with 735 pages there is plenty of turning to do.

But even though I'm happy I finished it I'm sad too. This was my last book that I have been planning on reading so now I don't have anything to read. If anyone out there has a recommendation I would love to hear it.
thanks so much

A post

I just realized how long it had been since I have made a real post that doesn't ahve to do with my polls! That is really scary so I'm gonna make a really real post.

So right now I am reading The Other Boleyn Girl By Philppa Gragory for the kinda second time. The first time I read it I got it as a library book and had to return it before I was done so this will technically be the first time I finish it, but whatever. This is the book that really started me on the Tudor era. I'm a historical fiction nut so this was right up my alley. After I read this one I read tons of other books about King Henry and his six wives and I love it! The best part for me is being able to get all the different perspectives. For example reading about Jane Parker in The Other Boleyn Girl and despising her and then reading about her in The Boleyn Inheritance (also by Gregory) and totally loving her. How else can you really understand history unless you get both sides of the story?

For those of you who have had no idea what I have been dithering on about here now would be an excellent time to use the fabulous world wide web to do a little research. I am off to munch on delicious pepperoni pizza!

Au revoir (if you don't know this either maybe you need to spend a little less time on the computer and a little more time reading)

Harry Potter kicking some butt

I don't want to choose a winner to early but Harry Potter is dominating. I guess I don't exactly have an audience that swoons at the word Twilight. Oh well if Harry Potter wins I won't be too upset

Speady Quick

That was fast! I left the room for like 5 minutes and there is already a vote on the new poll. I have no ides how I would vote on this one becasue I am a devoted fan to all three.

opions

The readrs have spoken and it looks like they would prefer to be fearless and tasteless. Both of which I disagree with, but that's what is so great about opions.

Wii Games

Okay so i'm here at the library and I'm super bored so I thought I would come blog. I don't really have much to blog about I just like to check my polls and see if people have been voting. wait I have something semi interesting to write about. So this weekend I got two new games for my Wii. I got Wario Land Shake It! which is basiclly a old school platform game that has been souped up for the Wii. But it's still tons of fun because my sister and I are super bad at it. The other game I got is called Rayman Raving Rabbits 2 (i think). This one is super fun! The whole rabbit series is awesome. THe game is basicly a ton of mini games that made me laugh out loud. Okay that is about all I want to blog about.
Peace

Little by little

Okay I couldn't stay away. I'm back to pink but this format is a little bit differnet and(I think) a little bit better

Just a Couple of Things to Add

While I was at school today I thought of a couple more books I read in 2008 that I recommend to any and everyone. They are all great books but I don't think they would quite make the list.

Child Of The Jungle
Sabine Kuegler
This is the story about a gril who goes to live with a remote jungle tribe because her father is trying to learn their language and study them. It's also about her struggle to decide between the modern world and the jungle

The Glass Castle
Jeannette Walls
This is another memoir about a girl with "crazy" (I guess that's what I'm trying to say) parents. I can't remember if they are addicts or not but their life is super different and really touching to read about.

Say You're One of Them
Uwem Akpan
You might need some backround information for this book. It is a collection of short stories from Africa and they are so sad. Like to story of the two nameless girls who can no longer be friends because of the religious war tearing their country apart. I didn't finish this one completly, the format and jumbled mix of english and native tounge made it hard to follow but if you only read one story from this book make sure you read Say You're One Of Them (For which the book is named) You'll probably want to read this one twice just to help it sink in. It's so deep.

Top ten books of 2008

I went to a blog that had a top ten book list for 2008 and I thought that is was areally cool idea! i have thought of ten books that I read in 2008 and am quite proud of them. the only thing is that I can't exactly think all the way back to January 1, 2008 so these are the book that I can think of the really stood out in my memory.
FYI These are in no order
Note: These are books that I read in 2008 not nessassarily books that came out in 2008

1 Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
JK Rowling
I know that there was aton of hype for this one and a lot of people were let down (me included) but I'm way to much of a die hard fan to not put in on my list

2 The Da Vinci Code
Dan Brown
Dan Brown is such a good writer! He has you on the edge of your seat the whole book. I had seen the movie but that didn't make the book any less of a suspenseful rollar coaster. Although it has taken a bit of a bad rap I still

3 The Other Boylen Girl
Philippa Gregory
Wow! This was the first book I have read by Gregory and I'm now on my 5th. I would stay up until midnight reading with a flashlight under the covers. I'f you haven't read anything by Gregory yet get your hands on a copy!

4 The Hungar Games
Suzanne Collins
I don't know where to begin. I can only think of amazing! oh and READ IT.

5 The Red Tent
Anita Diamant
After a taste of this book you just want more. The book follows the story of Jacob, his four wives, and 12 sons. Sound Familiar? well did you know Jacob also has a dsughter? and her story is the one that needs to be told

6 Pope Joan
Donna Cross
I got this book for 50 cents at a garage sale and until I read this book i had never really thought much about the pope let alone a female pope. But this book opened my eyes. I would recommend this book to anyone. Whether you choose to believe in Pope Joan in the end or not I would still say give it a try

7 Wicked
Gregory Maquire
I had been listening to the CD for years then I saw the play then I read the book. Hear the music, see the play, or read the book be sure to do it. It has a great moral about fitting in and being yourself

8 The Book Theif
Markus Zusak
I read this for my book group and it is honestly the best account I have yet to read on the Holacaust

9 Breaking Dawn
Stephaine Meyer
I know that every tennage girl out there is screaming the prasies of Bella and Edward ( or Jacob Black if that's how you roll) but I loved it! and the movie didn't dissapoint me too badly

10 Stolen Innocence
Ellissa Walls
This was about a girl who was part of a religion very similar to Mormon who is married to her cousin at 14. She breaks free of her religion and files a lawsuit. This summary is not giving the book justice. For a real life struggle this is definatly a book you need to read.

There I 'm done. When I get time later I plan on adding pictures and links. If you think some of these books shouldn't have made the cut leave a comment and let me know.

Book List

I have just started a list of books I love, it is not yet long enough to show how much I truly love books. These are just the books I see sitting around my room right now. The list will continue to grow so keep an eye out for changes and additions!

Vote! Vote! Vote!

I may not be able to vote in the preidential election yet, and you might not be able to either. Here is your chance to give an opion ( okay it's not as important as choosing the president but still) Up above is a poll I have created about favorite sports and in 23 hours it will close. If it closes and soccer wins I will be devistated but I only allow myself to vote once. I am thrilled that someone else bothered to vote but soccer cannot win. So show an opion and vote before time runs out!

read much?

I haven't done much reading over break but I did manage to finish one so far. It is called The Lovely Bones and if you are going to start this one you have to finish it. It follow the story of Suise Salmon (who is murdered and goes to heaven but not the heaven you are thinking of) and her family trying to stay together. It is really a different kind of book and I highly recommend it.

I also went to Barnes and Noble this weekend and bought a copy of Wicked. (It is about how the wicked witch of the west is actually the good person) I saw the play and loved it so now I'm trying the book. I listened to about half of it on tape before I gave up my first time trying but I hope the second try is more sucessful.

What has everyone else been reading lately?

How can there be to much pink?

Okay Marcus says that all the pink is hurting his eyes so I'm goig to try a new color scheme.
(Even if I don't like it as much as pink I have to keep my reader happy)

Just an extra little note: YEAH!!! someone posted a comment and voted on my poll!!
